About WestVIC Technology
We provide IT Support and IT Services to customers in the regions around Ballarat, Daylesford, Colac, Geelong, and through The Grampians Region.
We’re a regionally-focussed, community-minded IT business. Our customer base is predominantly small business and home customers. We like to deliver our services in a friendly and jargon-free manner. Our goal is to work with people and teams to get the most out of technology.
Our Charter of Customer Service
We pride ourselves on being easy to work with – when we talk with you we’ll cut out all the technical jargon, we’ll communicate with you in real terms so you can understand your options, and we’ll help you to make good decisions about your next steps.
We work with customers big and small, and with all levels of technical capability and confidence.
These are the principles that underpin the way we operate:
Listen
Talk in jargon-free, non-technical language
Go the extra mile to help people to understand and build confidence in using technology
Focus on solving problems – not just technology for the sake of technology
Consider multiple solutions and work out the best fit for the specific and unique needs of every customer
Be friendly, positive and enthusiastic
Our Community Programmes
We’re invested in our community and we strongly believe that – in a society where there’s a lot of stuff that creates an uneven playing field – access to technology should not be based on your level of income, your age, or your educational background.
At the moment, we have three specific programmes that work together with the main goal of getting people who need access to technology, a working laptop that they will be able to use for email, research, social media and connections, and work applications and productivity.
Programme 1 – eWaste Pickup and Recycling
We will come and pick up your eWaste and where possible, re-purpose it for other uses (we’re particularly interested in PC’s or laptops). If we can’t reuse it, we’ll make sure that it’s disassembled and discarded in the most optimal environmentally-sound way.
Programme 2 – Repurposing PC’s and Laptops
In recent years, the development of the ChromeOS has meant that old machines can (relatively) easily be repurposed and be quite effective for most of the core operations needed to connect and be productive (internet, email and office applications). We’ll give older machines a new lease on life by completely reformatting them to operate under ChromeOS, and we’ll test them to make sure they are quick, robust and ready to go.
Programme 3 – Basic Training and Support
What use is having a computer if you don’t know how to operate it, or if you can’t perform the tasks you need to perform? We have developed a suite of online training programs and guides for users of our machines (and we’ll provide a basic level of ongoing support to ensure our community programme customers can access them).
